Throughout history, women have suffered from injustice, oppression and discrimination, and untill now unfortunately.
But did you know that Islam gave women all their rights and made them equal to men in rights and duties?
GOD says in holy quran:
{ and women have rights similar to those against them in a just manner,...}
(Holy Qur’an, 2:228).
and in this article we will mention some sayings and narrations of Prophet Muhammad and his successors (Peace be upon them) about woman:
The prophet muhammad says:
《 Verily God is more merciful toward females than He is toward males. And if a man brings happiness to a woman with whom he is mahram (ie she is an immediate relative), God will bring him happiness on judgement day》. [Al-Kafi vol. 6, pp. 6].
Imam al-Sadeq: the Holy Prophet said:
《 the best children are girls; they are kind, willing to help, delightful, blessed, and they are great at child rearing》[Al-Kafi vol. 6, pp5].
The Prophet says:
《 whoever enters the market and buys a gift for his children is like one who carries charity to the needy. He should also start with the females before the males, for whoever brings delight to a daughter is like one who frees a slave from the lineage of Ismail》.
The Holy Prophet:
《 whoever has a daughter that he doesn’t destroy, or insult, and doesn’t prefer his sons over her, God shall take him to paradise》. [Awali al-La’ali].
The Holy Prophet:
《 whoever is tested with girls, and treated them with kindness, they shall be a protection for him from the fire》.
The Holy Prophet:
《 whoever has a daughter, God shall help him, support him, bless him, and forgive him》.
The Prophet :
《 The most perfect believers are the best in conduct. And the best of you are those who are best to their wives》.
Imam Ali (peace be upon him) has quoted Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) as saying that:
《 Nobody respects women but those who are dignified and generous and nobody insults them but those who are mean and contemptible 》.
Imam Ali:
《 Women are like flowers. They should be treated gently, kindly, and with affection》.
《 Be kind and considerate to your woman. She is a tender flower, and not your household slave》.
《 If the Eyes of a Female Cry Over a Man That Oppressed Her, Angels Will Curse Him With Every Step He Walks》.
《 Woman is a delicate creature with strong emotions who has been created by the Almighty God to shoulder responsibility for educating society and moving toward perfection. God created woman as symbol of His own beauty and to give solace to her partner and her family》.
《 God will not accept prayer and good deeds of a man who harasses his wife and he is among the first people to enter the Hell 》.
《 He who has a daughter will avail of blessing and forgiveness of God》.
As you can see, Islam honored women fourteen centuries ago, and before the contemporary feminist movement, and what I mentioned is only a small part of the rights that God gave to women in Islam.
